I charge a flat fee of $45.00 for PC's dropped off (not in home service) that require a reformat/reinstall. However I do include a lot for this fee:

My standard Windows Reinstall service includes

• Reformat the system's boot drive either from the XP install CD or from DOS as needed. I will delete the existing partition- totally removing all traces of existing data/spyware/viruses/etc.
• I will open the PC's chassis & blow out any dust-bunnies. At this point I will also inspect the system's motherboard for loose wiring, leaky capacitors & any other obvious visible hardware problems.
• Each and every PC I install Windows on will have the latest security/system updates from Microsoft's Winupdate site current as of the day I finish the job.
• I use custom OEM Windows install discs that do NOT contain any of the trialware that come pre-installed on most PCs. These custom discs DO contain the latest service packs from Microsoft and work (legally) with your existing Windows Product Key (usually found on the side of your PC case).
• If you do not have an anti-virus application you wish to use & you do not wish to purchase one I will provide a free one (Microsoft Security Essentials) for you. This will be installed and updated before I return your PC to you.
• Last but not least I will NEVER pronounce a Windows Reinstall "finished" until all hardware present in the PC has appropriate drivers installed and functioning. Your Device Manager will be "clean" like the example below with no yellow question marks or red X's when I've completed the job.

I have personally seen several half-completed Windows installs performed by national chains as well as local shops. This can leave the client with no sound, poor picture quality & no Internet connectivity. You will not have this problem if you bring your PC to me.
